Motivated to invest in our young people
“We are getting creative and investing in the future of young Australians through Variety’s National Scholarship Program”
Our Partnership with Future Generation Investment Company
Future Generation Investment Company (FGX) provides shareholders with access to prominent Australian fund managers who act entirely pro bono (FGX charges 0.0% management fees and 0.0% performance fees). It is because of this that 1% of Net Tangible Assets each year are able to be directed to 14 Australian charities, with a focus on children and youth at risk. Variety – the Children’s Charity is one of these very proud and grateful recipient charities.
All funds received through FGX are going towards Variety’s Scholarship Program nationally, which supports children with an existing talent or passion, who are disadvantaged or living with a disability, to pursue their dreams and achieve their full potential; ultimately opening doors to opportunities for education, social inclusion, well being and a bright future that may otherwise been out of reach.
FGX fund managers have been extremely successful in growing the fund over the first year, ultimately enabling the value of the 1% donation to increase significantly for all charities involved. FGX’s donation to Variety has increased to over $115,000 for year two of this partnership; which will enable Variety to expand our Scholarships Program nationally, so as to continue to help more young Australians to reach their full potential. Variety is looking to expand our Scholarships Program into more regional centres beyond 2017, and we look forward to working together with FGX and their shareholders to help bring this to life in the future.
We are delighted to celebrate FGX’s support of Variety. By choosing to support Variety, they have enabled Variety to transform the lives of young Australians facing adversity; empowering them to overcome whatever obstacle they have been faced with in life, to go on to living their lives to their fullest potential.
Isaac’s achievements made possible by FGX
Variety’s Scholarship Program is a national initiative which supports young Australians who have an existing talent or passion, who are disadvantaged or living with a disability, to pursue their dreams and achieve their full potential; ultimately opening doors to opportunities for education, social inclusion, wellbeing and a bright future that may otherwise been out of reach.
The Variety Scholarships Program is made possible by the generosity of some very special corporate and individual donors. The Future Generation Investment Company (FGX) is one of our outstanding Corporate Partners, who have directly enabled 29 young Australians all across Australia to overcome some of the challenges they face in life, and strive for achieving their full potential in the fields of sport, music and the arts.
Isaac is a talented young man with vision impairment, and is one of the 29 young people who benefited from FGX’s support in 2016. Thanks to his Variety Scholarship generously donated by FGX’s, Isaac has accomplished so much in sport; he has competed in state level for athletics, he currently plays goalball (soccer for people with vision impairment) and just recently was in China representing the Australian Goalball Youth team. He won the most valuable player of the NSW Goalball team.
Isaac speaks of his ambition for the future; “My goals with sport is endless I wish to reach the Paralympics, that is a dream of mine I’ve had for a very long time, and not just to finish there I would love to keep teaching the sport to other people and hopefully become a coach in the sport and make some more youth players reach their goals.
Without the support that the Variety Scholarship has given me, I would never have been capable of reaching the goals I have”.
